Our activity is so weather-dependent and the weather is so changeable, that our flying sessions are usually planned on pretty short notice.

If you'd like to have some company when you fly, you can easily start a flying session by scrolling to the bottom of this page and clicking on "Leave a reply" to this Topic. Just indicate the day, and time that you intend to arrive at the field, and invite other members to join you.

Or, you can "Leave a reply" to accept another person's invitation to form a flying session. People intending to join in should post a Reply, because multiple Replies fuel additional interest.

To "Leave a reply", you will need log in to the Message Board using the username and password that were issued to you. If you've lost them, you can use the lost your password functionality to trigger a password reset - if you do not see a response within a few minutes, be sure to check your Junk/SPAM folder for the password reset email.

If you are not able to complete a reset because your registered email address is not current you can either register with a new username OR Contact our Website Administrator Tim Glover <tglover51@hotmail.com> for additional assistance.

Note that new registrations require manual administrative review so there may be an additional delay if you choose this option.

Tuesday Morning Update:
The Wind & Waves site is still showing excellent conditions for thermal seeking on Wednesday. I expect to arrive with Terry D around 10 am.
We are still waiting to hear what time the porta potty will be delivered. I'm hoping for a good turnout....see you there!

Lyle

PS, The conditions look promising for the next three days as well....

Morning!
Looking ahead into next week, Wind & Waves is indicating light winds from the SW at 11 am on Wednesday! Reasonably warm at 16-18C. It just so happens that Wednesday is the day the porta potty (P's,P&PP!) gets delivered! Yay! I will be bringing a plethora of flying machines, some of which may actually see some air time! : )

I hope to see y'all there!

As always, I will update this post on Tuesday morning to get a better idea of conditions at the field.

Best,

Lyle

If the forecast holds, conditions look very promising for Thursday
I plan to be at the field for around 9:30
Will be flying various models - have to shake off the dust.

The portapotty was delivered this morning. Time to dust off your planes, charge your batteries and get soaring.😊

Evening!
Well....what can I say, Wind & Waves wind strength predictions have not be very accurate of late. Last Thursday, the winds from the South East were really gusty and not at all ideal for maidening anything of value. So I'm going to give it another go....Wind & Waves and The Weather Network are both predicting very light winds from the South West on Monday and Tuesday.

I can't do both days and stay married, soooo, I'm going with Monday morning at the Burford Field! If the weather predictions holds I will be maidening my new to me, 2.9M Introduction REF. I also might have my E-X-RES ready as well.

It looks to be a great day, let's hope the prediction holds true!

Best,

Lyle

Well that was a colossal disappointment. The wind forecast was for light winds, not the gusty winds we experienced this morning.

Hopefully next time, the weather forecasters can get their acts together.

Ann:
I think the forecasters were about 6 hours too early. After I arrived back home, around 3 pm, it was all sunshine 'n roses in my backyard! Almost no wind, sunny and warm! Damn, eh? Unfortunately, you have to play the hand your dealt! We all managed to get some flights in and enjoyed socializing at our beautiful field, so it wasn't a total loss.

As you mentioned, it was the kind of wind that you would fly something that you had properly trimmed out previously, and you knew could handle some wind. It was not however, the kind of conditions where you would want to maiden a sailplane that you have just spent the winter preparing it for the upcoming flying season.

I agree, well said....
