First time with it at the field if delivered in time will likely by August 26th. So if the ALES contest finishes with any time to spare, we can try it out.

We tried out the OneWinch yesterday after we had finished ALES #6.
Set up was a breeze, took just slightly longer than a Hi-Start.
Per Tim Gess's (the designer/manufacturer) advice for a first try out, we used a light plane (536g,19oz, 1.5m) with a second person first doing the pulling. Dick and Les pulled at first and I flew. No problems, hardly any effort required to pull, no indications of 'Popoffs' and good launch height.
After Dick and Les had completed a few pulls, I used the belt to both launch and fly myself, also with no problems.
Seems a very good alternative to a Hi-Start, compatible with a wider plane weight range than can be achieved with one Hi-Start and no rubber to wear out.
Next step when next at the field will be to launch some heavier planes.
