Our activity is so weather-dependent and the weather is so changeable, that our flying sessions are usually planned on pretty short notice.

If you'd like to have some company when you fly, you can easily start a flying session by scrolling to the bottom of this page and clicking on "Leave a reply" to this Topic. Just indicate the day, and time that you intend to arrive at the field, and invite other members to join you.

Or, you can "Leave a reply" to accept another person's invitation to form a flying session. People intending to join in should post a Reply, because multiple Replies fuel additional interest.

To "Leave a reply", you will need log in to the Message Board using the username and password that were issued to you. If you've lost them, you can use the lost your password functionality to trigger a password reset - if you do not see a response within a few minutes, be sure to check your Junk/SPAM folder for the password reset email.

If you are not able to complete a reset because your registered email address is not current you can either register with a new username OR Contact our Website Administrator Tim Glover <tglover51@hotmail.com> for additional assistance.

Note that new registrations require manual administrative review so there may be an additional delay if you choose this option.

Conditions look very good for the slope tomorrow, 20+ km/h gusting 30+, due north. Cooler than lately too. Plan to be there ~10 am.

Afternoon!
Just looking a head for the rest of the week. Thursday is looking really good at this point! About 7 kms winds from the North West. I plan on arriving early, probably be packing up around noon. I believe Terry is planning on flying as well.

Cheers!

Afternoon!
It looks like a cold front is headed our way which will bring much more moderate temperatures. Thursday is looking good at the moment. I plan on arriving early...probably 8 am. and will likely pack up around noon. Going to bring both line launch and electric sailplanes.

Cheers!

Although the weather is not favourable for the Fun Fly, it does seem OK for Westover until about 1 pm. Wind SE 20+ kph gusting 30+. I'll get there ~9:30 to 10 for a couple of hours.

I'm watching the Wind & Waves forecast for next week. At this point Thursday morning early in the morning looks good and Sunday looks fabulous all day! I may venture forth on both days! I need to get the Altis V4 set up in my Solius and Radian Pro. I don't have Windows, so If anyone coming to the field has a laptop with the flight manager installed, I would appreciate your help.

Cheers!

Current Superforecast predicts south winds from 9 AM to 2 PM at 20 kph gusting to 37 kph.
I will aim to be at the slope around 9AM, and will e-mail HCA before departing from home.

I've finally satisfied my curiosity regarding the height of the Westover drumlin. I moved my airplane from the Westover crossroads to the top of the drumlin and while doing so, noted the change registered by the model's altimeter. At its' highest point, the Westover drumlin soars 36 Meters (118 Ft) over the pavement at Westover's crossroads.

Today I flew the "i-SOAR" off the drumlin a few times and eventually had one modestly-successful flight. I was joined by Dick C with his "Ninja" and Ann T with her SIG "Wonder" (converted from electric).

Windspeed on the drumlin was unreliable all morning, with sudden gusts followed by lulls. To avoid aerodynamic stall, the challenge was to maintain an adequate airspeed. This was easier said than done, particularly on downwind runs when returning to the hill. Even with a relatively high downwind groundspeed, a strong gust could still overtake the aircraft, causing airspeed to drop and stall to occur.

Anyway, we all had a few rough landings, but luckily damage was minimal. Afterwards we went to Tim's. By then I was steady enough to fly a donut and a coffee into my pie-hole. All-in-all it was a good day.

Further to my earlier posting, it looks like I won't be hitting the Mines Rd field on this Thursday. : ( Sunday's forecast still looks favourable! I might get there early for a few hours.

Cheers!
