Please contact Dave Surry ( david.surry@gmail.com ) if interested in any of these sailplanes and make an offer. Sorry but photos of the planes even at minimal file size exceed the attachment quota, so see the email to SOGGI members for photos. I tried adding the photos in a separate post, but they still don't show.
1) This is a 78" span model I call the Mini-Oly II as it uses an Oly III wing section which is one of the best I have come across; thinner and more efficient than that on the standard Butterfly trainer, for example (see below). It is somewhat experimental as it only has ailerons and elevator (no rudder; although it was designed so that it could be modified to add one, if desired). In fact, it flies well as is, although a little slower to turn at low speeds, ie on landing. The fuselage is an Olympia fiberglas fuzz offered originally as a mod for the original Olympic. It has a Turnigy 3530-1100 motor, 30A ESC and uses a 3S 2200mAh LiPo.
2) This is from a Butterfly kit, omitting the undercarriage and with a modified wing having an Oly III section; 103" span; much flown. It also has a drag brake at the bottom of the fuselage to get it to come down a bit faster if needed. It hinges down at 45 degrees. The power system is the same as (1). Rudder and elevator and drag brake controls.
3) This is a more recent modified Butterfly, again with the efficient Oly III wing section, but a different dihedral set-up and a separate flat centre section that has a spoiler. It can be flown with or without the 12" centre section. Without the centre section, it is similar in size (85" span) to another of my models (not offered) which I found to be very successful. This wing layout can also be used on the fuselage of Butterfly I. That's what I first experimented with, and then decided to build the wings their own fuzz and empennage. Same power setup as above, Rudder and elevator controls on smaller version; also spoiler on the larger span.
4). This is a Scooter, a kit offered by the Spirit of Yesteryear. 10' span with spoilers and flaps; conventional elevator. Similar power set up except Axi 2820/12 motor with Thunderbird 36A ESC.
5) A rather ancient T-tailed model but flies well and still going strong This was originally a Springbok slope soarer kit built in the UK in 1970-71. Flown at Hamilton once as a slope soarer by Jack Humphries. Since no slopes in London, I extended the wings to 8' span and flew it as a thermal soarer. Similar power setup to 1-3. Rudder and elevator controls.
