Thank you to everyone who turned out for this contest, and in particular to our guests, Neil Tinker and Mike Kucera. Thanks also to Ann Tekatch and Ed Smith who did not fly, but did shag chutes, served as timers, and made themselves generally useful. And thank you Ray for providing the winch that we did use, and to Neil for the offer of his winch.
The weather lately has been a bit daunting. It forced two earlier postponements, but our stubborn determination finally stared down Mother Nature. Even so, the weather forecast for the morning of June 2nd called for strong gusting winds. That forecast undoubtedly discouraged some who might otherwise have attended. As things actually turned out, the winds dropped during the course of the day while the thermals gained strength. If you survived the morning, it became a fine afternoon.
Congratulations to Otakar who placed second and now advances to LSF Level III, and to Les Peer in third place who has now completed his Level II competition requirements. Yours truly placed first. I wish I could apply this win towards my own LSF Level III requirements, but a minimum of 10 contestants are required for Level III credit. Maybe better weather will attract more competitors next time !
