SOGGI LSF Contest ... 9:00 AM Thursday, May 20, 2010

Post by Bob H » Sun Apr 25, 2010 8:40 am

Open-class Sailplane Man-on-Man Contest counts towards League of Silent Flight achievement

“Open Class” means any winch-launched R/C sailplane. In “Man-on-Man” competition, for each contest Round, every contestant must try to accomplish the duration target assigned to that round by the Contest Director (CD). For example, "For Round One, everybody will try to fly for exactly 10 minutes". Additionally, every contestant aims for a landing-target located on the ground. All scorecards must be turned in within the time-window allowed for that round. For example, "Turn in all scorecards for Round One, by 10:45 AM sharp or receive a score of ZERO for Round One".

Registration of Contestants will begin at 9:00 AM. The Scorekeeper will assign the launch-order of Pilots and the Winch-Master will call each pilot when it is his turn. Any delay in launching will send that pilot to the back of the line. We will have as many Rounds as time and conditions permit. At the conclusion of each round, your score will be determined by the timely submission of your scorecard, your proximity to the assigned duration target and your proximity to the landing target. The sum of your scores from all Rounds will determine your overall Contest score. These arrangements and any special Safety considerations will be reviewed at the Pilots' Meeting which will occur at 10:00 AM (sharp !)

New pilots are welcome. Winches will be provided, and we'll be glad to provide winching assistance and winch training on request.

Open to SOGGI members and non-club-members. Proof of current MAAC membership is required. No entry fee, no prizes.
