NEW AND IMPROVED PROCEDURE:
In this Forum, Contest Directors (or Special Event Directors) are invited to report RESULTS from Contests (or Events) that have already occurred.

UPCOMING Contests and Events are ADVERTISED on our WEBSITE's rolling Calendar of Events. That way, events will automatically be maintained in chronological order, and then deleted from our Calendar of Events after their scheduled date has passed.
To include an event on the SOGGI calendar please contact the Special Events Organizer via the Contacts page on the SOGGI website.

More FYI...

Hello Troops..
Thanks go to the "Loo Gang" for all the effort on Saturday to move the port-a-bog
to Fletcher... The humourous comments that were wafting around the set-up
were totally rocking... I wish someone had got a pic of Dick Colley standing beside
the house, looking like he missed the entrance....!!!
I cracked up at the comment that, because of the well hidden spot, one could "go about one's business", leave the door
open and continue flying your sailplane in total comfort... (it's the important little things that count in our hobby)

Again thanks to Warren, for the use of the trailer to carry such an aromatic
edifice... it is his forth time. Most noticeable was the ease and facility that the operation
was carried out with... (not something one would want to put on one's resume tho..)

Heinz Gwisdek and Bob Hammett put the hurricane proof stays on, you can be assured
that even during an earthquake or twister, one should feel quite secure and comfortable in the building.

Jim Laslett had the parking and privey path cropped closely, so it was too easy for the
move..

You will notice just at the entrance to the parking from the lane, the blue bag,.. which covers
a frequency board. Ann's handiwork with a sewing machine and tape measure made it look
like a commercial venture opportunity... If anyone can think of a better place for it, please let me
know... It was purely arbitrary, with the idea that it would be the last thing you see on your way home
and there will be your frequency pin, looking back at you wistfully, hoping you will stop and collect it.
... we'll have to find a way to fix the bag with a tie so it doesn't take off in a Fletcher Thermal...!!
but can still be removed.. ideas..???

You will also see a unique black and white metal SOGGI sign attached to the tree by the freq board. Courtesy of
Jim Laslett... (and Ford). He had 3 of them fabricated, ... they will need a special "place in the sun" to let everyone
know we are the next fortune 500.com company to hit the hobby world..

NOw... all we need is way to get Ma Nature to back off a little with the wind....!

While flying, it is highly recommended that you find a spot with the most grass to do your approach and landings.
...the light brown surface, between the grass lumps may fool you into believing it is dirt... it isn't... it is concrete...!!
or the next best thing to it. Not nice on nose skids or tails... It will however make you tune your landings
into the nicest landing and slide you never knew you could make.

Fingers crossed for fair weather for our next event.. "Thermal Workshop"

Sunday, we had visitors from COGG, Ivan and Pat Mackenzie, and Doug Pike came to our
"lesser" breezy field. The Mac bro's are getting in as much DLG practice as possible before they head
to Denmark, end of July, for the World Champs.
We also discussed the possibility that in the remote event that COGG is forced to cancel an event because
of bad weather (they had to cancel 2 contests on the weekend) near Barrie, they could use our field in order to keep the schedule and not have to lose or
re-sched the contest. Seems like a good samaritan thing to do... Will have to muddle the concept around... any thoughts?

Cheers
Ray
