Re: ALES Contest #2 Now Friday June 8, 2012

Friday June 8 is looking much better than Thursday (Thurs thundershowers 40% POP, Fri cloudy periods 20% POP).

So I am moving the contest to Friday. Hope those who planned to come can still make it.

Reminer folks

ALES #2 is scheduled for this Thursday June 7 at Trinity Church/Chippewa. Usual start time, pilots meeting 9:30 am, contest start 10:00 am.

Current forecast is for isolated showers (40% POP) and wind 10 km/h, but I’ll keep track of it, in case it gets to look too dicey for flying.

If necessary I’m suggesting rain dates of Fri June 8 to Mon June 11.

If you don’t have a CAM or other time/altitude limiting device but want to participate anyway, come along and we’ll figure something out.

ALES Contest #2 Thursday June 7, 2012

Post by Andy M » Mon May 21, 2012 6:33 pm

On Thursday June 7, 2012 we will host the 2nd open class Altitude Limited Electric Sailplane (ALES) contest.

Pilot registration starts at 9:30 AM. Proof of MAAC membership is required. Flying begins at 10 AM and as many rounds as weather permits will be flown.
There is no entry fee.

This thermal duration with precision landing contest is open to all MAAC or AMA sailplane pilots, and to any electric R/C sailplane with an altitude/launch duration limiting device.

The contest will conform to the ALES League rules ... see http://ales-league.org/alesleaguerules.pdf

Visiting pilots please contact CD Andy Meysner 905 279 0173, meysner@sympatico.ca for further information and for directions to our field near Binbrook, Ontario. Pilots from other clubs are of course welcome.

If you do not have an altitude/launch duration limiting device on your electric sailplane, please join us anyway and we'll figure out a way to join in the fun. Although scoring may need to be separated from those pilots with an altitude/launch duration limiting device on their sailplanes.

MAAC Sanction# 2012-410.
