HI Guys,

I'm seeing much better conditions Thursday.

less chance of rain.
less wind, 4 kts at 11:00 am,
Better Vis, 10 + N miles.
higher cloud base, None.

Hope to see you then, If I can avoid Med Appointments.

I can't make Weds but will on Thurs if the weather cooperates. Presently Thurs looks better than Weds.

Monday Evening Update:
Yeah...Wednesday looks to be a blow out! Thursday is indeed the better day. I plan on arriving at the field Thursday morning around 10:15 am. Hopefully the forecast holds....

Best,

Lyle

Morning!
Looking ahead to the weather forecasts for the upcoming week, Wednesday and Thursday both look promising, but once again the winds coming from the East, look to be a wee bit on the high side. At this point, I'm planning on heading to the field on Wednesday morning, however, if that doesn't work out, Thursday will be my back up day.

I will update this post on Tuesday evening.

Best,

Lyle

Ann:
I think the forecasters were about 6 hours too early. After I arrived back home, around 3 pm, it was all sunshine 'n roses in my backyard! Almost no wind, sunny and warm! Damn, eh? Unfortunately, you have to play the hand your dealt! We all managed to get some flights in and enjoyed socializing at our beautiful field, so it wasn't a total loss.

As you mentioned, it was the kind of wind that you would fly something that you had properly trimmed out previously, and you knew could handle some wind. It was not however, the kind of conditions where you would want to maiden a sailplane that you have just spent the winter preparing it for the upcoming flying season.

I agree, well said....

Well that was a colossal disappointment. The wind forecast was for light winds, not the gusty winds we experienced this morning.

Hopefully next time, the weather forecasters can get their acts together.

Evening!
Well....what can I say, Wind & Waves wind strength predictions have not be very accurate of late. Last Thursday, the winds from the South East were really gusty and not at all ideal for maidening anything of value. So I'm going to give it another go....Wind & Waves and The Weather Network are both predicting very light winds from the South West on Monday and Tuesday.

I can't do both days and stay married, soooo, I'm going with Monday morning at the Burford Field! If the weather predictions holds I will be maidening my new to me, 2.9M Introduction REF. I also might have my E-X-RES ready as well.

It looks to be a great day, let's hope the prediction holds true!

Best,

Lyle
