We had 5 pilots turn out today intending to fly. It was quite windy though and only 4 decided to fly given the conditions. You couldn't ask for a wider range of wing span, from an Xplorer, Osprey and Bubble Dancer to a Micro Radian. I have to commend Terry D for putting up the Micro Radian in the conditions and it seemed to have more penetration than my BD. With the windy conditions landing was difficult, but as usual Alex showed us how to do it. His high landing score reflects a first round bonus of 5x where he nailed the button.

Thanks also to Ann for helping out and Oldrich and Alan for the social visit.

Results
Pilot	Task time score Ldg score	Total Score
Alex 1353 380 1733
Tim 1486 0 1486
Andy 1210 0 1210
Terry D 412 0 412

Andy (CD)

We had to move camp a couple of times which was not conducive to running a smooth contest. The forecast wind direction also did not cooperate, resulting in some delay in setting up line launch equipment. We potentially had 8 contestants but only 5 managed to fly and only Alex managed to complete all 5 rounds.

We had a mix of electric, line launch, and wing spans from 2.5 to 3.8m. Fortunately I was able to recover pretty quickly by going to
cruise mode ( which gave me flaps acting in unison with the ailerons) and I went to max control
rates. This configuration made it quite controllable. I only needed about 1/3 full throw.
(all be at Mach 1).
It came down in a big arc from 400' to ground in ?? seconds (Timer still had his mouth open and
failed to stop the stop watch for my fourth round) Bet it was a record low time.
The ship came past at low altitude but way too fast to go for landing points so I consumed much
of our field to make the landing.

The other high light of the day was Lyles claim of the only tree on the field.
It took him the full contest of practice, but finally he succeeded in snagging
the highest twig.
